Compound Success at Kestrels’ York/Hereford

On 8th May 2022 the intrepid CCB Compound Team of Jack and Lydia made their way over the border to Kestrels’ Archery Club of Biggleswade in Bedfordshire to shoot a York/Hereford competition. The first big event for a couple of years it was a chance to blow off the cobwebs somewhat.

After a chilly start the day turned to wonderful sunshine with an intermittent right-left breeze.

Both archers made it through the full 12 Dozen (no mean feat given how long it had been since doing a day-long competition) with respectable scores. Jack came second in Gents Compound on the York whilst Lydia took the compound ladies’ gold on the Hereford.

A welcome surprise was an additional gold medal (and it has to be said the medals were of excellent quality) in the team category, beating local challengers Clophill into second.

This is the first year that this event has run, but it was a well organised and enjoyable day so we’ll definitely be back next year, hopefully with a few more members.
